My Renault Trafic van has been reported to the Police as stolen.
I bought my van a couple of years ago, and it has served me well. So when the gearbox started to go, I looked around for someone to either re-condition my gearbox or fit a re-conditioned one. I did various searches, then decided to entrust my van to Harman Garages Ltd in Canterbury. Partly because their service included collecting and returning my van to me, but also because they offered a 2 yr warranty on the gearbox. I also asked them to fit a new clutch.
So Samuel Harman, and a woman (possibly his wife), collected my van on 17th July 2024, saying that he would return it with the work carried out within 7-10 days. Having not heard anything from him, I tried to contact him on 24th July, by phone and email. No reply to either. But my wife spoke to someone on the 25th, who said that it would be returned on 29th July. But this day came and went with no van and no contact from him.
So I reported my van stolen to the Police, Insurance company and my bank (as I had paid for repairs up front, I know I shouldn't have and have certainly learnt my lesson).
To cut a long story short...he did eventually email to say he would return my van on Wednesday 14th, so I let the Police know. Guess what, no van! Excuses came by email and new dates, a weekend, the following Friday. Still no show.
My bank have been great, and refunded my money quite early on, saying that they recognise it to have been a fraudulent transaction. Now I waiting for my Insurance company to pay out.
